Internalising Finance Operations of a Solar Asset

Challenge: A solar farm’s finance operations were outsourced, while the development entity ran its own finance function. This split created inefficiency, compliance risk, and a lack of clear reporting.

Action: Led the merger of finance functions across the development company and the solar operating entity. Successfully migrated to a unified finance system and built an internal finance team structure tailored for growth and control.

Result: Achieved a seamless transition from outsourced to in-house finance with zero disruption to compliance or reporting, while strengthening capability and scalability for future growth.

Implementing Procurement & AP System Integration

Challenge
Procurement processes were managed via email approvals, creating inefficiency, lack of transparency, and unsustainable controls as the company scaled. Accounts payable was disconnected from the accounting system, increasing manual work and error risk.

Action
Researched the market for suitable procurement systems, ran vendor demos, and selected a solution capable of handling the company’s complex Delegation of Authority (DOA). Implemented the procurement platform and integrated it with the accounts payable and accounting systems, while training the team on new workflows.

Result
Delivered a streamlined, automated procurement process with full DOA compliance, improved efficiency and transparency, and a fully integrated AP-to-accounting workflow that reduced manual effort and error rates.

Leading Finance Through a CFO Transition

Challenge
A renewable energy company faced a leadership gap during a CFO vacancy, with upcoming first external audit and key compliance milestones at risk.

Action
Covered and led the finance team, re-established monthly reporting cadence and board pack quality, coordinated the first external audit with BDO, and managed external tax and corporate advisors. Additionally, recruited talent from the market to build the internal finance team, including defining job descriptions and leading hiring. Supported recruitment for permanent leadership.

Result: Shortened reporting cycles, delivered an on-time, successful audit, built a capable finance team, and restored executive/board confidence during a critical period.

Power BI Implementation for Executive Visibility

Challenge
The CEO and board lacked real-time visibility into financial performance, relying on static and delayed monthly reports that slowed decision-making.

Action
Identified the need for a dynamic BI solution, sourced and engaged a Power BI consultant, and led the implementation. Defined the key KPIs across finance, generation, and electricity prices, ensuring alignment with executive priorities. Oversaw development of dashboards and reporting models, and guided adoption within the leadership team.

Result
Delivered real-time, visually intuitive dashboards that improved transparency, accelerated decision cycles, and equipped leadership with actionable insights

Capitalisation Policy → +25% EBIT Forecast (Renewables)

Challenge
Development costs were treated inconsistently, understating profitability and weakening the P&L narrative to the board.

Action
Redesigned capitalisation policy for development costs; built the supporting analysis; secured auditor buy‑in; embedded process and controls.

Result
25% uplift in forecast EBIT, cleaner P&L structure, and a stronger story to investors and the board.
